THE QUEBEC FILM AND TELEVISION COUNCIL IS PROUD TO ORGANIZE ITS FOURTH VIRTUAL REALITY FAMILIARIZATION TOUR FOR AMERICAN PRODUCERS!

MONTREAL, August 26, 2021 - Wednesday morning, the Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) held the fourth edition of its virtual reality familiarization tour. The summer 2021 edition was entirely focused on American television and streaming series producers. Series represent an increasingly important part of the foreign production hosted each year in Quebec. Senior physical production Execs (VPs, SVPs and EVPs) from Legendary TV, Paramount TV, ABC Signature TV (Disney), Blumhouse TV, AMC Studios and Sony Television participated in this edition.

The VR Fam Tour included a virtual breakfast meeting where QFTC, SODEC and the QFTC Prestige Partners presented the Province of Quebec's assets for audiovisual production. These meetings are an opportunity to present Quebec to the American market and to showcase the province’s very rich audiovisual offer, whether in terms of tax incentives, locations and film sets, visual effects, animation, VR or post-production.

This reinvented formula of virtual reality familiarization tours launched by the QFTC in the winter of 2020, has helped attract productions from studios such as Lionsgate, Universal Content Production, E-one, Paramount as well as A24 that are currently shooting in Quebec or will be in the coming months. For many of them, this is their first time shooting in Quebec.

"Currently, we are seeing a significant increase in requests from American producers to produce their series in Quebec. We are confident that this edition will generate as much interest and activity from major studios as the previous ones and perhaps reproduce the success of The Bold Type with five seasons produced in Montreal," says Chanelle Routhier, Commissioner, Film & TV, Province of Quebec. As a reminder, the immersive VR production and the presence of our partners at the meetings are the result of a collective effort by the audiovisual industry to attract foreign filming."

“The QFTC has found an innovative and immersive way of bringing Quebec to executives and producers during these unprecedented times. It was an extremely impressive presentation and made me feel like I was there.” Jason Gold, SVP | Production | AMC Studios
