The City of Montréal to Support the QFTC’s Initiative «Release your Creativity»

The Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) is thrilled with the City of Montréal’s decision to support its cluster project «Release your creativity: Pursue a career in visual effects and animation» aimed at developing talent within the visual effects and animation industry. 

The initiative, developed in collaboration with Access:VFX, CyberCap and École des arts numériques, de l'animation et du design – NAD-UQAC, is geared toward developing innovative solutions for tackling the current labour shortage.

VFX Fam Tour 2019: Hollywood Producers Charmed by Montréal's Visual Effects Offer

From June 4th to 6th, the Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) led a VFX Fam Tour, hosting five American executives working in this sector. During these three days, nearly 20 studios were visited, allowing these key decision-makers to meet local talent.

The five participants were:

  • Ms. Rachel Lynn / Director of Post Production / HBO
  • Mr. Jordan Stephens / Media Operations Manager / Imperative Entertainment

Canadian Film Commissioners 
Unite to Champion Industry Growth

On May 31, film commissioners representing multiple levels of government across Canada gathered in Vancouver to assess the feasibility of a nationwide film commission network. Hosted by the Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC) in partnership with the Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC), the summit underscored the widespread demand by Canadian film offices to build and strengthen a supportive network for film commissions across the country.

The QFTC was in Los Angeles 
to Meet Foreign Producers

Chanelle Routhier, National Commissioner for the Province of Quebec, was in Los Angeles last month. Accompanied by Jennifer Price, QFTC Representative in L.A., they met with more than a dozen Hollywood producers and studios. These meetings have confirmed that several film shoots (TV series and films) would be expected by the end of the the year 2019 and the beginning of next year.

Jennifer Price, QFTC representative in Los Angeles, participated in the 11th edition of Produced By Conference. As part of this event, she had several interesting meetings and participated in panels, workshop sessions and networking activities to promote Québec and its expertise with the participating producers.

The QFTC's Film Commission Services Team will be present at the Frontières Market from July 18 to 21. Organized by the Fantasia International Film Festival, this festival will connect genre filmmakers with film industry professionals and promote co-production between Canada & Europe.

September 5 -15, 2019 / Toronto

TIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Canadian cinema and creating transformational experiences for film lovers and creators of all ages and backgrounds. As part of this event, the 3rd Canadian Film Commission Summit will also be held.
