THE QUEBEC FILM AND TELEVISION COUNCIL HOLDS ITS FIRST FUNDRAISING GALA WITH A TRIBUTE TO ROLAND EMMERICH

image

On Wednesday, March 10th, the Quebec Film and Television Council’s (QFTC) very first fundraising gala was held online! Proceeds from the event will be used to support the QFTC’s mission and to promote Quebec’s audiovisual industry worldwide. The QFTC is responsible for the continued strategic positioning of our territory and makes constant efforts to ensure that it maintains its competitiveness and appeal for international producers with content for filming, as well as for animation, visual effects, post-production, sound recording, etc.

“In Montreal, the teams’ engagement and motivation for my projects has a certain very European ‘’je ne sais quoi’’. I like this European atmosphere and the enthusiasm of the members working on the teams. Montreal also has film studios located downtown that you can get to in a matter of minutes. In addition, Quebec offers attractive and competitive tax incentives,” explained Roland Emmerich

LEXIQUE-3D.COM: A NEW DEVELOPMENT FOR FRENCH SPEAKERS IN THE VISUAL EFFECTS AND ANIMATION SECTOR.

The Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) and SYNTHÈSE are pleased to announce the launch of a new French-language glossary dedicated to the visual effects and animation industry. Developed with the financial support of the Office québécois de la langue française, this online tool, free and available to everyone, is intended to facilitate the use of correct French terminology for professionals in the sector.

“We are very proud of this new tool, which we hope will facilitate the daily lives of human resources professionals, teachers, and all workers in the visual effects and animation industry, thanks to a simple and well thought out website,” stated Pierre Moreau, CEO of the QFTC. “We hope that this glossary will become a reference tool for the industry throughout the French-speaking world.”

NEW CREATION TOOL FOR DIRECTORS, UNIQUE TO QUEBEC!

The most seasoned team in movement and motion control... FlyPatt is at the forefront!

The ideal tool for amplitude or precision shots, for movements and shots that would be otherwise impossible with conventional tools, or simply to have more flexibility on set.

In addition to the 1-, 2- or 3-dimension Cable Cam flight service which can be used to move a camera, a stunt double, lighting or VFX, our “motion control” software can be programmed quickly (also operable in manual mode) and is compatible with our new ultra-fast equipment, capable of moving up to 30 km/h, with accelerations faster than that of a Tesla. Our systems stand out for their fluidity of movement, as well as their efficiency, in that they can be programmed and movement plans can be modified on set.

It is possible to make camera movements over several hundred metres, while communicating with lighting and VFX software in real time, and therefore to perfectly synchronize the effects in relation to the movement and positioning of the camera.

Our multi-purpose equipment allows the programming of long sequence shots of up to several hours. The different systems offer an impressive range of speeds, from very slow to extremely fast. It is also possible to synchronize several systems with each other (e.g. cameras, lighting, vfx and an actor), according to your own creativity.

With an impressive track record, Flypatt’s expertise crosses borders. While our services and equipment were used in various stunt scenes for Moonfall, Roland Emmerich’s most recent production, we also helped create the magic of several Cirque du Soleil shows and events.

More user-friendly than urban legends suggest, these systems can be set up quickly.

Our equipment can be seen in operation in our studio-workshop in Montreal, open for personalized demos by appointment.

The monthly meeting of the Chantier des bureaux de cinéma de la province du Québec, which brings together all the councils in the province to discuss the main issues and filming projects in the various territories, took place on March 8th.

The QFTC organizes virtual meetings of the Canadian Film and Television Commissions. The last meeting took place on March 9th.

The QFTC is currently working with the federal government, the provincial government, the Canadian Film and Television Commissions, the DQLA and the MPA (Motion Picture Association) on the issue of the arrival of international audiovisual industry workers in Canada under the new entry requirements of the federal government.
