As part of the Stop Motion Montreal festival, this Friday, we are presenting a Q&A with Phil Tippett, a member of the V.E.S. Hall of Fame.

A two-time Oscar winner, Mr. Tippett has worked on productions such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Starship Troopers and Robocop!

We are pleased to announce that Fortunato Frattasio, teacher at Lost Boys School of VFX, will be hosting this conference.

3rd Canadian Film Commissions Summit 
at TIFF 2019


As part of TIFF 2019, the Quebec Film & Television Council (QFTC) collaborated with the Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC) to organize the third and final Canadian Film Commissions Summit. The initiative brought together 22 participants, including more than 10 new delegates.

This third edition concluded the project to bring together and unify film Commissions across the country towards common business objectives and practices. The organizers are proud to say mission accomplished!

Barkskins: Major Shoot for Quebec City!


The Barkskins shoot is the largest foreign production to land in Quebec City in recent years.

Beginning in June and continuing until November, the shoot takes place mainly in Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, where a reproduction of a village from the late 17th century was built in the middle of the forest. Scenes from the series will also be shot in Château-Richer and Stoneham, not to mention the scenes that were shot directly in Old Quebec.

Funded by National Geographic, the series will be broadcasted in 172 countries and translated into 43 languages.

Barkskins in numbers:

  • 150 extras 
  • 150 technicians 
  • 6 months of shooting (in 2019) 
  • 8 episodes (first season)

Quebec Film Sourcebook 2020

The new edition of the Quebec Film Sourcebook will be released next week! We are also working on a French version of the document, which will be available online in the coming weeks.


Online Consultation on 
Foreign Investment and Exports

SODEC invites cultural enterprises to participate in an online consultation conducted by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation. This consultation will help define priorities, identify business needs and identify innovative and structuring solutions for the development of the Action Plan for the Growth of Foreign Investment and Exports 2020-2025. Government measures will then be developed.

You have until September 30 to complete the online questionnaire:
