2017 Emmy Award Nominations

Quebec Creators Stand Out

MONTRÉAL, July 19, 2017- Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) Board chairman Sylvain Lafrance and CEO Pierre Moreau wish to extend their heartfelt congratulations to eight Quebecers who were nominated for an Emmy for the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies: Jean-Marc Vallée (director), Yves Bélanger (cinematography), Maxime Lahaie (picture editing), Sylvain Lebel (picture editing), Véronique Barbe (picture editing), Justin Lachance (picture editing), Gavin Fernandes (sound mixing) and Louis Gignac (sound mixing).

Once again, Quebecers will hold their own at a prominent awards ceremony honouring film and television artists and craftspeople. The prestigious American Television Academy revealed the nominees for their 69thEmmy Awards on June 14.

The QFTC commends the talent of these eight craftspeople as their achievements pave the way to the world stage. The Academy’s prominent nod—an esteemed distinction we acknowledge with pride and enthusiasm—will make them ambassadors for the QFTC to position Quebec’s audiovisual industry as a major hub for domestic and international production.

“This is a major boost for our work,” said Pierre Moreau. “The Quebec Film and Television Council thanks the nominees for their contributions and wishes them continued success as they pursue their inspiring journey.”

The QFTC also congratulates Rodeo FX and Cinesite MTL for their respective nominations for Black Sails and American Gods in the Best Visual Effects category at the Emmy Awards 2017, as well as Felix & Paul, nominated in the Outstanding Original Interactive Program category for their VR experience "The People's House - Inside the White House with Barack and Michelle Obama". We are pleased by this recognition of Quebecers’ talent and expertise.
