"Magic Beyond Words" wins Canadian Screen Award

The Québec Film and Television Council (QFTC) congratulates producer Ronald Gilbert and executive producers from Media-Max for their first Canadian Screen Award.

Their television film entitled Magic Beyond Words: the JK Rowling story has just won in the Best Dramatic Mini-Series or TV Movie category. Canadian Screen Awards are attributed by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s and recognize excellence in film, television and digital media productions.

« We were very honored to have been nominated and are truly thankful to the Academy to have received this Canadian Screen Award. JK Rowling’s story of a single mother overcoming the odds to become the world’s foremost fiction writer really inspired us », said Karine Martin, producer for Media-Max.

National commissioner Hans Fraikin added: “I saw Magic Beyond Words at a preview end of 2011, and I remember being very impressed by the quality of this production, which is closer to a feature film than to a TV movie.”

Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story, directed by Paul A. Kaufman, was broadcast by The Movie Network and Movie Central in Canada, Lifetime Networks in the US and sold in over 20 countries.
